Pilot Programme Brings Jobs For Inverclyde Residents
An innovative pilot programme with the Malcolm Group created by Riverside Inverclyde and supported by Inverclyde Council, Inverclyde Community Development Trust, and DYW West (Developing The Young Workforce) will help to create up to 10 permanent contracts for successful Inverclyde residents with the Malcolm Group as trainee drivers.
The Malcolm Group is one of the UK’s largest providers of Construction and Logistics services, with major centres on South Street, Glasgow, and at Loanhead Quarry in Beith, from where a significant fleet of Class C HGV vehicles are operated.
Riverside Inverclyde and Inverclyde Council have committed up to £10,000 each to support the development of this programme which aims to help fund 10 HGV Class 2 Licenses for candidates who successfully complete an 8 week training schedule with the Malcolm Group.

This programme enables Inverclyde to pro-actively develop a route to employment with the successful Logistics, Construction and Maintenance Company that employs around 2,000 people across the UK.Together with Inverclyde Council, Inverclyde Community Development Trust, and the DYW West organisation, we have developed the opportunity of giving an excellent start to the working lives of young Inverclyde people, with a company at which their careers can grow”.

While fully committed to supporting Inverclyde residents into positive employment destinations, the Trust will act as the single point of contact for applicants and will oversee the recruitment and selection process agreed with the Malcolm Group in identifying candidates for this much valued pilot programme”.
