ri gives youngsters once in a lifetime QE2 experience
On Sunday 5 October 2008, the QE2 paid her last visit to Greenock, arriving at Ocean Terminal just after midday, and departing at 10.00pm. Tens of thousands of visitors flocked to Inverclyde to view the engineering feat nd wish her well prior to retirement in Dubai.
To mark the occasion, Inverclyde Council staged a series of activities on Greenock Esplanade culminating in a spectacular firework display.
Riverside Inverclyde chartered a boat, Clyde Marine's Kenilworth, to provide a group of young people from across Inverclyde with the opportunity to go out onto the water to welcome the QE2.
Children from Garvel Deaf Centre, St Mary's Primary School and St Joseph's Primary School thoroughly enjoyed this once in a lifetime experience.
