Riverside Inverclyde supports Inverclyde Youth Festival
Local Urban Regeneration Company Riverside Inverclyde (ri) is to lend its support to the Inverclyde Youth Festival 2008, an annual event designed to celebrate and recognise the valuable contribution young people make to the Inverclyde area.
Presented by Inverclyde Council's Community Learning & Development Youth Work Team and sponsored by River Clyde Homes, the festival will run from 8 - 11 August 2008, and include all sorts of free activities for young people with guest appearances from celebrities Big Brother Winner John Loughton and Hollyoaks star Ricky Whittle.
Support from Riverside Inverclyde will enable the production of specially designed postcards to promote the event to the approximately 6000 young people aged between 12 and 18 years old living in Inverclyde.
Jacqui Mackenzie, Marketing Manager, Riverside Inverclyde explained ri's interest in being involved: “Riverside Inverclyde is the local Urban Regeneration Company established to drive the delivery of the £400m focused, integrated regeneration programme for Inverclyde that has been designed to secure the long-term economic growth of Inverclyde by increasing employment rates, average earnings and the percentage of small and medium sized businesses.
Young people in particular are the key to a positive future for Inverclyde, and it is vital that young people hear about the proposed regeneration plans and developments, and the benefits and opportunities this potentially means for individuals in terms of skills, training and employment.
Throughout the festival young people will be exposed to ri branding and encouraged to contact ri for more information either in person or via www.riversideinverclyde.com.
Beyond the festival event itself, Riverside Inverclyde will continue to work with both River Clyde Homes and Community Learning & Development to ensure young people continue to be informed and involved in the change for the better that is underway in Inverclyde.
The event's main sponsor is River Clyde Homes. Other funders are National Lottery,Inverclyde Community Health Partnership, NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde, James Watt College, Inverclyde Council Safer Communities, Choose Life Inverclyde, IBM, Youth Connections and Integrated Children's Services. 6 August 2008
