Children's Centre Refurbishment Plan

Inverclyde Council has applied for planning permission to refurbish Hillend Children's Centre, Border Street, Greenock. The £1,266,000 project would include removing the existing extension and building a new one.

Super Gym Plans Revealed For Greenock

A mega gym featuring over 400 pieces of equipment and a running track is planned for Greenock. Leeds-based company, Xercise4Less is preparing to open its first Inverclyde fitness centre, which will also feature bike and class studios and a ladies-only area.

Ardgowan Hospice is moving its furniture and electrical store to the Waterfront Retail Park in Greenock. The Ardgowan Hospice Superstore will be located within the old Carpetright unit and opens today.

Club development coach Andy Newman, with support from Inverclyde Active Schools and Gourock professional Derek Watters, plan to take golf to 1,000 boys and girls across the district this year promoting the benefits of the sport to a new generation of players.

Anti-social Tenants Evicted

Two areas of Inverclyde can now enjoy a more peaceful year after River Clyde Homes obtained orders from Greenock Sheriff Court to evict two tenants for antisocial behaviour. The housing association has now enforced the orders and recovered the tenancies.

Historic Falls Of Clyde Is Sinking According To Reports In Hawaii

State officials say the 140-year-old vessel, berthed in Honolulu Harbour, is taking on water with emergency repairs being carried out to stabilise it - providing another setback for campaigners trying to bring the ship back to Scotland.

Port Glasgow Route To Close For Almost 16 Weeks During Bridge Work

The second phase of the £650,000 project to improve road safety and cut congestion at Glen Avenue starts in February. Widening the bridge deck itself is due to start on Monday 11 February and continue until June.
