Plans Submitted For 78 Flats And Houses At Holefarm, Greenock

River Clyde Homes have applied to build 78 flats and houses Holefarm area of Greenock. The development would be on land at Peat Road where rundown properties were demolished a few years ago.

1st Contact Sales Expand into Ladyburn Business Centre

1st Contact Sales, the fast-growing independent outbound call centre has announced an expansion in Ladyburn Business Centre in Greenock. Following a period of sustained growth, the company is the latest tenant to sign up with regeneration company Riverside Inverclyde (ri), taking 506 square feet at Riverside Business Park.

£1m Works To Clean Up Dirty Water

A dirty water problem which has affected residents in several parts of Greenock for more than a decade is finally being cleared up thanks to a £1 million project. Scottish Water will begin a major upgrade to its mains network in and around Pennyfern, Old Inverkip Road and Barrs Cottage from next Wednesday.

Gourock Pool 'Starlight Swim' Dates Confirmed

Several 'starlight' swims will take place at Gourock outdoor pool over the summer. The first is on Wednesday 30 May with the others every fortnight after that, on 13 June, 27 June, 11 July, 25 July, 8 August and 22 August.

New Look For Busy Greenock Car Park

The layout of a busy Greenock town centre car park is to be changed in a move aimed at easing congestion. A new dedicated entrance to the Cathcart Street car park will be created from Watt Place with a new exit at the opposite end on Bank Street.

Creative young people with autism have triumphed in major awards celebrating the achievement of voluntary arts groups across the country. REACH For Change, from Inverclyde organisation Reach For Autism, are the Scottish winners in the Epic Awards.

All Aboard For The Bothy Cycling And Walking Scheme

A unique active travel partnership has been launched in Inverclyde, based at Gourock train station. The Bothy, run by Cycling UK, is the first of its kind, utilising the expertise and knowledge of community organisations currently providing walking and cycling initiatives and activities, and bringing them together to create one initiative in an accessible train station kiosk space.

Gourock Businesses’ Fears Over Parking At Outdoor Pool

Gourock businesses are ‘pooling’ together to raise concerns about parking now that the outdoor swimming season is under way. Shop-owners on Kempock Street say the opening of Gourock Pool creates so much extra demand for spaces that trade can be affected.

Amazon Worker Climbing The Career Ladder Thanks To New Initiative

A Gourock Amazon worker is climbing the career ladder thanks to a 'learning at work' initiative. 35-year-old Paul Hotchkiss from Greenock is now one of hundreds of Amazon employees across the country taking part in the Career Choice programme, pursuing a diploma in occupational safety and health at Glasgow City College.

Local Line Up For Taste Tent Announced

Taste Inverclyde will be providing the food and drink offering at the Gourock Highland Games to showcase the best of Inverclyde and Scotland. The 30m x 12m marquee will see the creation of a street food market and will also provide live music, a virtual reality showcase, board games whilst providing indoor and outdoor seating.

Martin Compston Reveals How To Get Charity Gig Tickets

The date has been revealed for pop star Example's big Greenock gig in aid of Ardgowan Hospice. The Brit-nominated singer songwriter is being brought to the town by hospice patron Martin Compston and has agreed to play for free in aid of the charity.

Greenock Clothes Shop Closes

A Greenock clothes shop has closed down. Utopia Fashion in the Oak Mall has now ceased trading. The independent retailer took over the Hamilton Way unit shortly after WH Smith pulled out two years ago.

Cruise ship Mein Schiff 3 came to Greenock for the first time, on Tuesday. The 99,300-tonne vessel arrived in from Invergordon and left in the evening heading for Belfast.
