Thirty finalists will line up for the Bee’s Knees Business Awards in June 2018, the 15th annual challenge for Inverclyde businesses and a major highlight in the Inverclyde Chamber of Commerce calendar of events.

Taste Inverclyde Announces Launch Of Taste Tent at Gourock Highland Games 2018

Taste Inverclyde will be working with Inverclyde Council at the Gourock Highland Games to showcase the Inverclyde and Scottish food and drink offering on 13th May 2018. With over 5,000 spectators expected to attend the free event at the Battery Park in Greenock, the ‘Taste Tent’ will be the newest addition and will form the food offering at the games. The 30m x 9m marquee will see the creation of a street food market, offering a delicious selection of food from vendors from Inverclyde and across the West Coast of Scotland.

Obama and Trump Snubbed... But Inverclyde Councillor Invited To Royal Wedding

Senior politicians may not have been invited to the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle but a Scottish councillor has made the list. Robert Moran, former provost of Inverclyde, was nominated by the Lord Lieutenant of Renfrewshire for his community work and for helping to organise a visit by the Queen to Greenock in 2012.

Ri Launches Meeting Room Hire Service

Riverside Inverclydehas launched its latest service to support the business community in Inverclyde. Ladyburn Business Centre will now offer short-term meeting room hire by the day or week to businesses, providing 517 sq ft of professional meeting space to host meetings or training courses.

Stakes are High For Butcher's Excise Duty Fraud

An Inverclyde butcher has been sentenced after illicit cigarettes were found within his shop. A joint operation between HMRC and Inverclyde Council Trading Standards uncovered more than 13,000 cigarettes in Greenock’s Lynedoch Street on three separate occasions last year. The goods were found with the aid of Dixie the sniffer dog and her handler.

Planning Approval For St Mary's School Makeover

Planning officials have approved a £6million extension and refurbishment of St Mary's Primary School in Greenock. The Inverclyde Council project, which is due to start in the summer, will involve the interior of the building in Patrick Street being modernised and a new gym/assembly hall being built.

A drive has been launched to make Inverclyde a golf holiday destination. Greenock, Gourock and Skelmorlie clubs have joined forces with The Spinnaker Hotel and Inverkip B&Bs The Foresters House and Belle Vue to form Clyde Coast Golf offering 'stay and play' getaways.

Kelburn Business Park Works Nearing Completion

Riverside Inverclyde is delighted to share progress pictures of its further £650k investment into Kelburn Business Park. In October 2017, Ri appointed Helensburgh based Stewart and Shields building contractors to complete further fit out works on Block’s C and D, totalling 17,394 square feet.  The works include the subdivision of the blocks, with the addition of first floor mezzanine storage in two units in Block C.

Businessmen Sandy and James Easdale Snap Up Another Inverclyde Pub

Businessmen Sandy and James Easdale are the new landlords of a popular Gourock pub. The Easdales - who bought the nearby Old Wherry Tavernlast year - have now been confirmed as the new owners of Monteith's Bar. The bus firm owners say that they will be looking for a tenant to run the bar.

Bank bosses are under fire after making more cuts to services in Kilmacolm. RBS is to reduce the number of times its mobile branch visits the village, from the end of May.

Planners are being asked to allow part of an empty furniture shop in Greenock to be used as a tanning salon. Sun First of Port Glasgow have made a change-of-use application for 207 Dalrymple Street.

A Morton Football Camp run over Easter by River Clyde Homes scored a hit with youngsters. Children of the housing association’s customers were treated to a week of football fun delivered by Morton Community coaches.

Ri Supports Inver Racers

Teenagers from a Greenock school are in the driving seat as they build a racing car which will be put to the test at a major competition. The ‘Inver Racers’, made up of pupils from Inverclyde Academy in Greenock, are on track for success as they work round the clock to build the Formula 24 car which they will race against other young teams from across Scotland.
