Peak Scientific Announce Research and Development Expansion into Inverclyde

Riverside Inverclyde, the organisation charged with delivering the economic redevelopment of Inverclyde in the West of Scotland, has concluded an agreement with international life science engineering firm, Peak Scientific on a five year lease of 2,121 sq ft of space from 19th January 2018 at Kelburn Business Park in Port Glasgow.

Plan To Turn Old Church Into Creative Enterprise Hub And Cafe

A plan has been lodged to turn an empty Greenock church into a multi-use community hub with a cafe, offices, workshops, hall and display space. David Watson, a cabinetmaker, and his wife Jane McAllister, a filmmaker, who live in Gourock, want to convert the former Martyrs Free Church in West Shaw Street.

Port Glasgow Town Centre Works Near Completion

A busy Port Glasgow town centre route is on target to open in mid-February as work on the town centre regeneration project nears completion. Part of Shore Street, directly in front of the town hall, has been closed for longer than scheduled after power cables were found to closer to the surface than expected.

Greenock Newsagents Celebrates 50 Years In Business

A newsagents is hitting the headlines as it celebrates 50 years at the heart of Greenock's east end. McCormick’s on Grosvenor Road opened in February 1968 and is still going strong five decades on.

Inverclyde Council On the Ball Over Pitches Upkeep

Inverclyde Council has agreed to fund a sustainable maintenance plan for its synthetic grass sports pitches. The Education and Communities Committee agreed to allocate £120,000 a year towards upkeep of the artificial surfaces.

New Toll Boys War Memorial Unveiled In Port Glasgow

Inverclyde Council has created a new memorial to a group of Port Glasgow men killed in the First World War. The original bronze plaque bearing the names of the 29 Toll Boys has been moved from the wall of the building at 5 Glasgow Road - where the old Toll House stood - because of future regeneration plans.

Marina Projects Celebrates 1st Birthday at James Watt Dock

It is one year since Marina Projects took over the running of James Watt Dock following the success in securing a long lease of the marina in a process run by Riverside Inverclyde and Peel Ports.

Officials Head Discussion On A8 Flood Prevention

High level talks aimed at preventing flooding on the A8 in Inverclyde are continuing. Officials from Inverclyde Council, Scottish Water and Transport Scotland are holding discussions to come up with a way to resolve the recurring problem on the road.

The Wise Group Announces Expansion at Ladyburn Business Centre

The Wise Group, a social enterprise that tackles social, economic and environmental issues throughout Scotland and the North of England, has announced an expansion at Ladyburn Business Centre in Greenock. The group, which was founded in 1983, has increased the size of the space it leases from Riverside Inverclyde by almost 60% to 872 square feet.

Travel Agent Moving To Port Glasgow Retail Park

Travel agency Barrhead Travel is investing £2.5million in a new store at Port Glasgow Retail Park. It is due to open in mid-2018 and will replace its current Inverclyde outlet in Greenock’s Oak Mall.

Old Swimming Pool Site To Become Biodiversity Space

The site of a former Greenock swimming pool is to be turned into a wildflower haven. Inverclyde Council has agreed to hand the management of the old Hector McNeil Baths land to Inverclyde Pollinator Corridor project, run by Inverclydebuzz, for it to become a biodiversity site.

 Battery Energy Storage Facility Approved For Spango Site

Inverclyde planning officials say developing an electrical energy storage facility on part of the former IBM site at Spango Valley, Greenock would be acceptable. The installation would be on land near the railway halt, behind where the site bowling green used to be.
